Dearest fellow travelers,
Recently and thankfully there has been a particular stress on classroom management for newly admitted elementary school teachers. I've always remembered my father mentioning to me that when he was studying to become a teacher he wished he was given a course strictly on what one needs to have ready for the first day of class. He wasn't talking about content but classroom management. How do you physically set up your classroom to have the most ideal environment? What rules and procedures are most necessary to show the kids in the first weeks of school? Tim Fredrick's ELA Teaching Blog is particularly interesting because he understands how difficult it can be for first time teachers and he wants to offer as much help as possible. He also has his own Wiki where he offers advice on how to teach numerous different aspects of language arts.
One other nice thing is his blog provides numerous other links to what seem to be very insightful websites pertaining to education.
